I still remember her eyes most of all.
Always blue, but sometimes brighter than others. They always seemed the brightest to me when her face was dripping blood...the contrast made her eyes seem to glow. Or maybe it was the anger, the desperation, or the fear...who knows, maybe it was all of the above.
Some part of me is aware that this emotion is evil, but still, thinking about fighting her and watching her fall time and again to the floor, cutting short the sounds of pain, but unable to stop the blood from gushing forth....I adore those memories. They are the reason I'm still holding on. This is about more than it used to be, that's for sure...I want to fight her again. I want to see her weakened and bleeding, too proud to beg for mercy, those blue-flame eyes echoing her courage...
I remember telling her once that she was one of those humans that wasn't worth saving.
I remember that even as I spoke the words, I knew I was lying. She was always different, and I always knew that. It's a shame that she's the fire...it's a shame I'll have to kill her someday.

But even then, those blue flames will dance somewhere....
I'm not sure this counts as a short story, but oh well.

This is Ryute speaking. Ryute is the main baddie from my story with Ardon, Of Fire and Ice. (Copyright! Don't touch it.) This would be written in between the wars, while he is trapped in limbo before being resurrected. Here he is reminiscing about his most hated foe, Yami Schneider. For as many times as he's mutilated and killed her, maybe he's gained something of respect for her....Maybe his hatred isn't as deep as everyone thought....

And here I though Ryute was just senselessly evil! To think he's just into guro.... *shudders*

seriously, though, I think you've dipped into the essence that is Ryute. He's always been a creepy character. I suppose it makes sense that he takes pleasure in the details of the contrasting colors, just like the characters contrast so perfectly with him.

All in all, well written.
